Dr. Jane Liddle
Co-President
Dr. Jane Liddle graduated from medical school at the University of Toronto in 1990 (having been class president 1988/99) and then completed a pediatric residency and subsequent fellowship in Perinatal-Neonatal Medicine at The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario in Ottawa in 1996. Clinical work has included hospital based clinical work in the areas of infectious disease (HIV and primary immunodeficiency), emergency medicine, critical and neonatal medicine and general inpatient pediatrics. Dr. Liddle has an active and busy solo full time general pediatric and consulting practice located for the last 20 years in Ottawa. Dr. Liddle also participates actively in teaching/supervising pediatric and family practice residents in their community rotations, and also teaches within the community family physicians and other health care providers. Advocacy has also been an active theme throughout Dr. Liddle's career including work within Pairo, the pediatric section of the OMA and in her present role as the co-president of the Pediatricians Alliance of Ontario-AAP Ontario Chapter.
Dr. Malini Dave
Co-President
Dr. Malini Dave is a Community Pediatrician whose area of special focus is in Social Paediatrics and Pediatric Advocacy. She is a consultant at Black Creek Community Health Centre. In addition, she is on the Steering Committee of the Infant Mental Health Promotion and on the Health Committee of the Toronto Child and Family Network. As part of the faculty at the University of Toronto, she has been involved in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate trainees and was the runner up for the Robert Haslem award in June 2015. Her interest in Paediatric Advocacy brought her to the Paediatricians Alliance of Ontario where she hopes to continue to collaborate with various different partners, including in early years, public health and education, which in turn would develop into strong community relationships bringing positive changes to children’s health.
Dr. A. E. Joan Abohwheyere

Dr A.E. Joan Abohweyere is a pediatrician trained in Nigeria, UK and Canada. She currently works in the Durham region at Lakeridge Health and is an adjunct professor of paediatrics with Queens University, Kingston. She believes that the Pediatricians Alliance of Ontario is equipped to advocated for our society’s most vulnerable members and will initiate vital change helping children and youth throughout the province.
Dr. Ripudaman Minhas
Member-at-Large
Dr. Ripudaman Singh Minhas is a Developmental Paediatrician with the Women’s and Children’s Health Program at St Michael’s Hospital and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Toronto. His research interests are in the development, behaviour, disability, and rehabilitation of children in urban settings and in newcomer immigrant and refugee families. He is currently working to develop interventions to support the developmental potential of children in the unique context of their social determinants of health and inequity. His team uses Community-Based Participatory Research principles to guide the co-creation and implementation of family-based interventions and the evolution of health systems.
His current focus is in supporting parenting in communities experiencing marginalization. This includes the Maple Circle program which aims to support the parenting journey of families of refugee background, and Punjabi Kids’ Health, a social media-based health literacy program to support families in the global Punjabi diaspora.
Dr. Minhas has conducted research on populations in Kenya, Uganda, and India, examining various aspects of early childhood development, injury and disability, and the developmental care of immigrant, refugee, and internationally adopted children in Toronto.
Dr. Minhas completed the Developmental Pediatrics subspecialty training program at the University of Toronto and the Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. He was a Global Health Scholar at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Maryland, and completed his Master of Public Health and a certificate in Global Health there. Dr. Minhas completed his medical degree at the University of Toronto, with General Paediatrics residency at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
Dr. Sarangan Uthayalingham
POEC Liaison
Dr. Sarangan Uthayalingam completed his medical training at St. George's University School of Medicine in 2005. He completed his Paediatric residency at McMaster University in 2009 and has been a practicing Paediatrician at Brantford General Hospital since 2014. He served as the Chief of the Paediatrics Department at the Brantford General Hospital.
In addition to being a full-time paediatrician at Brantford General Hospital, he provides care to patients with Type 1 diabetes at the Diabetic Education Centre and is a part of the Chronic Complex paediatric care facility at the Landsdowne Children's Centre.
He has a special interest in growth, development, asthma, diabetes, prematurity and enjoys all other aspects of Paediatrics.
Dr. Sharon Burey
Past-President
Dr. Sharon Burey is a behavioural pediatrician and has been practicing in Windsor, Ontario for over 20 years. She has also had the privilege of providing care for patients in Northern Ontario. Over the years, her scope of practice has ranged from: NICU to Acute Care General Pediatrics, Child Abuse to Eating Disorders, inpatient and outpatient Child Psychiatry. Pediatricians have been at the forefront of advocacy initiatives and have long had a deep understanding that connections and networks in the wider community are the essential ingredients to our patient’s success and wellness. That is why among her many accomplishments, the spearheading of ADHD Windsor www.adhdwindsor.org for the past 11 years in Windsor, Ontario, has been the most gratifying. The future of pediatrics—and, more broadly, that of the medical profession—is in the balance. We as pediatricians need to be at the table co-creating that future for the benefit of our patients and society at large. She joined the PAO to broaden her advocacy for children and adolescents across Ontario and to promote the value of Pediatricians to the health and wellbeing of Canadian children who are the future of our society. Dr. Burey attended the University of Western Ontario where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She received her medical degree from Dalhousie University and completed a residency in Pediatrics at the IWK hospital in Halifax. She was also in the first cohort of the Physician Leadership Development Program that was created in partnership with the OMA, the CMA, and York University. She is an Adjunct Professor of Pediatrics at the Western University and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Nursing at the University Windsor.
Angie Roberts
Executive Director
Angie Roberts began her role as the Executive Director of the Pediatricians Alliance of Ontario, and its sister organization, the Pediatric Section, OMA in Fall 2020. Angie brings her past experiences working and teaching in post-secondary education paired with an Honours in Fine Art to creatively and passionately work with the Pediatricians of Ontario. Angie lives in the Niagara region with her husband and two young sons where she is also a professional photographer.
